Diggle is well known to Michael, as his home town where he grew up and got to know the hills as a childhood playground. Our short walk followed a guided tour of his memories around old haunts including a mysterious statue in the middle of nowhere, on our short walk.
Diggle doesn't have a village centre itself. It developed as the result of mills around a main street where workers' houses existed. Since then it's become more of a village road. I found it interesting how such a such walk included so much local information as well as passing lands marks like the Standedge Tunnel and along the borders of the Peak District National Park.
A small public car park on Ward Lane next to Diggle Duck pond where tracks start alongside the pond.
