Having picked up a Pub Walking leaflet from the Spread Eagle, Sawley, I thought why not give the route a go.
Following 'Walks with Taste' map up to the summit of Beacon Hill, was challenging in someways, but idilic in other parts. Also although farm locations were clearly marked, the fields in between were guesswork to find a way out. A few dodgy stiles, but rewarding to get to the summit and trig point of Beacon Hill.
There is a carpark opposite the Spread Eagle for customers, but plenty of road parking near to Sawley Abbey, another attraction to visit.
