What is better - a long fin, or a short jet fin? Between SCUBA divers this often results in a heated debate, with each camp firmly believing their style of fin is better. Well, I own Cressi's two extremes - the long Ara, previously the Master Frog, and their new retro-styled jet-fin equivalent, the Origin LD. I took both of them on the same dive to evaluate their performance. The result? They both perform equally well - both are powerful fins, great for cruising and excellent when you need that extra power in surges and currents. But, they do deliver this power in a slightly different way, and which to use really depends on the dive you are planning.
In this video I talk about my experience with the Master Frogs and Ara which I've used for decades, and why I tried, and bought, a set of Origins not too long ago.
