A dive in the Breede River

During a weekend away on the Breede River, near Bain's Kloof, I decided to go for a SCUBA dive on realizing there were plenty of fish. Maximum depth was 2.1m, average 1.2m, so going without fins and just crawling along the bottom was easier. Footage of me was just done from the surface, using a GoPro on a stick, by my wife.
The colour of the water is like that due to tannins from fynbos leaching into the water. Of the four species of fish spotted, the large and smallmouth bass and carp are invasive aliens, while the catfish is at least an African species, but from further north. These fish all unfortunately have a detrimental effect on the endemic species, many of which are now rare.
The initial bit where I go down the "rapids" wasn't done on SCUBA - I just floated down in a wetsuit. It has been shortened, but not sped up - it was a fun rollercoaster!
