Caution: If you attempt to duplicate this setup you do so at your own risk. Rotating a shaft in a lathe can be dangerous and can result in injury or death if the shaft comes loose!
This video is a second attempt to check the slip yokes for vibration. In this video I have made a couple of changes to see if the vibration I am observing is coming from the slip yoke moving on the shaft as the shaft rotates as suggested by Noels Garden Tractors and Firewood. It is my belief that in real use there would be enough of a load provided by the mower deck gear case being driven as the blades rotate that the shaft would be kept tight to the inside of the slip yoke as it rotates and the slip yoke would not move (flop) as much as it does when it is just turning a shaft as it does on the lathe. I have wrapped a piece of masking tape around the rectangular shaft so the slip yoke is a much snugger fit. I have also removed the weld hub on the yoke side of the mount which places the slip yoke unit closer to the mount where the bottle is located.
I spun the original yoke (that I had clocked 180° in the previous video) after doing these changes and noticed a bit of movement in the liquid so I re-clocked the original yoke back to its original position and as you can see in the video there is very little movement on the surface of the liquid with it spinning now.
Thanks for watching.
