Welcome to Revit at Staten Island Tech! We use Revit to study BIM and using CAD for Architecture, Civil Engineering, and the exciting idea of virtual world building.
As of this writing we use Enscape 3D as a plugin to give our users a strong way of quickly viewing their work in real-time as they develop it. Enscape renders in 3D in a live stream from the open RVT file.
Revit is natively 3D and works in many ways similar to AutoCAD but at its heart, it is its own program with a very efficient way of recreating anything in the world or designing from the mind's eye. It is assumed it is for building design, but it is also good with natural areas and things like roadways. The only design "flaw" it has is the walk-through feature, which is why we use Enscape instead. Enscape allows live walk-throughs that are fully interactive or scripted walkthroughs that can be exported as videos. Take a look at some samples from our students, Autodesk, and Enscape 3D.
