Creating a floor or ceiling in Revit is relatively simple, but there are a limited set of options for customization with the built-in types. I encourage you to watch a demonstration of using the materials browser to change the material of the finish layer of a floor, as well as the finish layer of a ceiling. You may find these options in the edit type area of a floor or ceiling and then editing the structure of the item.
To create a floor you find it in th architecture menu and then enter sketch mode. It is recommended that floors should be drawn to the core of a wall so that floors in adjacent rooms press against each other to reveal no gaps without overlaps.
Ceilings are easily created on the ceiling plan views. Ceilings belong to the layer of the floor they are on, and have a base offset that is usually two feet from the level marker above.
