Oil free cooking is a concept that a lot of people are new to and I completely understand why. Oil has been regarded as healthy for decades ever since the Mediterranean diet gained popularity in the late 1970's. It's pretty much commonly accepted now for oil to be considered a health food, so why would anyone want to eat oil free? On top of this, cooking without oil is not exactly easy and requires a pretty big change in palate to adjust to.

In this video I explain the two main reasons why I prefer eat oil free as much as possible. The first main reason is summed up as "empty calories." Oil is pure fat extracted from a whole food, also called "refined fat," and contains virtual zero nutrition. Aside from the trace vitamins, it's useless. It has no protein, carbohydrate, fiber or minerals.

Additionally, over the last several decades, medical professionals have shown that omitting oil from the diet is key in reversing heart disease and other chronic degenerative conditions, so following a no oil diet may boost your longevity as much as it slims your waistline.
