Japan Travel - Autumn Hike up to Mount Takao (高尾山) from Sagamiko

Описание: Japan is even more beautiful in the autumn. This time we wanted to get out from the city, out in the nature. We started the day early with a train ride and our destination was Sagamiko Station where we would start our hike to Mount Takao via Mount Shiroyama and then end the day at Takao Station where we jumped on the train back to Tokyo. This was a full day.

Mount Takao is located roughly 60km to the west of Tokyo. I forgot to add a map in the video.Sorry for this! It should be easy to find anyway

We took the train from Tokyo Station, the Chuo Line, which took us all the way to Sagamiko Station via Takao Station. Google Maps is really good to check trains and public transportation.

It is a bit of a walk from Sagamiko Station to get to the trail head and it maybe is not the easiest way to find but if you have some map app or if you prepare your trip you can find a good description on how to get there.
I once ran from Sagamiko to Mount Takao and back so I was somewhat familiar with the trail.
The train was about 1200 yen one way.

The trail starts with a pretty steep climb and eventually you get to the peak of Mount Shiroyama. There were refreshments and som food available for purchase there. I enjoyed some delicious mushroom miso soup.

Then there is some hiking and climbing before you get to Takao. There is some kind of "beer garden" at Takao. At least you can buy some food and drinks.
There is also a monkey park at Mount Takao and there are several different routs to take to get down or up to Takao Station. The ropeway is an option if you don't want to walk.

We had some drama with the drone at the end. Those propellers are not to be played with. They are sharp so take care of your fingers. Be prepared with some first aid kit if you go out on a long hike. I think and hope everything turned out ok after a visit to the emergency room for a couple of stitches when we got back to Tokyo.

Mount Takao is a good and convenient excursion from Tokyo if you like the nature.
