This weekend we took the train to Nagatoro to hike up Mount Hodosan to see the Robai tree flowers in ful bloom. We started our journey at Tokyo Station where we got on the Ueno-Tokyo Line which brought us to Kumagaya Station. There we changed train to Chichibu Main Line which took us to Nagatoro Station. It was about a 2 hour train ride in total and tickets were around 2000 yen one way.
It was easy to find the way to Hodosan from the station. There is also a cable car option up to the top if you don't want to walk.
It was a beautiful day although a bit cold. We had some snowfall in Tokyo the days before. It was February after all...
On the way up to the park we stopped at the Hodosan Shrine to have a look.
The views from the top are really beautiful. Beside the Robai trees, the Plum trees were also starting to bloom. Robai tree, also known as Wintersweet.
I think it was well worth the visit. It was a really nice day!
