Every homeowner's insurance policy in New York has some sort of jewelry coverage but there are limitations. Ranging from $1,000-$5,000 in potential coverage as long as it falls under a named peril. This includes fire and theft.
Most homeowner's think that loss or breakage of jewelry is automatically covered under your homeowner's as well. Unfortunately it is not automatically covered unless you schedule the jewelry separately or buy a jewelry floater policy.
It is important to make sure any jewelry that you would want replaced and carries a high value is scheduled separately on your homeowner's policy.
