DQ2 Playthrough | Part 24: Discover the Deep End

With Lorelei's Harp in hand, we can now venture even deeper underwater.

In fact, much of our time is pretty much devoted towards finding things underwater and there's plenty to find. However, it's also home to a plethora of new areas and threats. For starters, there are the Sea Lord's Lairs. There are two of them that we explored. We check out the East one first and it's home to treasure and nothing else. Afterwards is the South lair. It's also home to treasure, along with a boss. A dangerous boss at that.

We face the Abysmeralda. This boss is no laughing matter. Seriously. It isn't. It has 6600 HP and it's kind of weak to Fire attacks. It has Thwack as an ability but it has a lot of different skills that can really throw you for a loop. You may want to buff your party then have Gawain deliver big damage. It can be a long fight but not an impossible one if you make sure to heal when needed. Trust me. It's not an easy battle. Taking it down will have us earn a living memory. It's one of seven memories that you need to find.

We do find the Shrine of Rubiss but we'll be visiting that later. Trust me on that. We then head for the Northern Sear Lord's Lair and find the other boss: Helliphantes. It has 8,000 HP and some major defense. It has a lot of spells that can lower your defense and agility while having access to a plethora of skills. It has low magic resistance so take advantage of using spells while trying to buff and keep your party alive. It ain't difficult. Just a bit annoying. Beating that will net another living memory.

With our exploration done, we can continue. Part 25 is where we head for the Shrine of Rubiss.
