DQ2 Playthrough | Part 25: Into the Shrine of Rubiss

NOTE: The raw video was almost 2 hours. As such, this video is split into two smaller videos.

With our deep exploration done, we press on once more. Our next stop is the Shrine of Rubiss.

We enter the Shrine but we know we're in for a fight. With who? Atlas. Atlas is one of Hargon's four generals and it seems us finding it is what he was expecting. Guess it means that we're in for a fight now. We ain't letting him destroy this shrine.

Atlas is brutal especially since he focuses entirely on physical attacks. I mean that literally. This guy will take your party down hard. Focus on buffing with Kabuff while Gawain can build up strength then attack. Have him with Muster Strength + Oomph and then follow it up with Cutting Edge. If you have that, then you can deal major damage to him. If one of your party members die, use Kazing. Oh and with the Soul Sigil, have it become Unbridled Blade and Gawain can deal up to 2500 damage. Seriously.

Atlas is beat but he decides to retreat. He says that he's lucky he doesn't have the room to stretch his wings. Don't worry. He'll be back. They head forward and with the five Sigils, the rest of the shrine is formed. It is here we see Lady Rubiss, the god herself. Remember her? She meets with us for the first time. The heroes ask for her help in taking down Hargon but she knows everything. She knows what they have done.

She then gives us the Eye of Rubiss. She says that if they are in trouble, they can use it to light the way. She also asked them to make a promise. A promise to return safely. They agree.

Now the party is ready to take the fight to Hargon. They return to Beran and with the False Idol, they open the portal to Rendarak. Upon arriving via the portal, they find Elmoo taking down a Manticore. Unfortunately the injuries that he suffered were so severe. Despite his small deameanor, he held his own. Despite the party's efforts, they are unable to heal him. However, he tells them not to apologize. He's thankful to have met them and wishes 'em luck. He dies not after and all they can do is grieve. All the four can do is keep on going. Keep on pushing. For Elmoo's sake.

Leaving the Shrine South of Rendarak, they head for the cave using the False Idol. The Passage of Rendarak. What follows is a trek facing many challenges and there are plenty that they will face. It's here that we do get Erdrick's Armor. Oh and by the way, you can find Liquid Metal Slimes here and you'll need to take them down in order to get loads of experience. Trust me.

Part 26 is where we'll continue through the passage and eventually escape into Rendarak.
