Описание: Sometimes telling a patient that you have a plan is enough to make them feel better immediately. That's why teaching is such an important part of medicine. If I look at a patient and say, "Maybe this will work," it's not very encouraging. But if I explain, "OK, here's what you need to know. Here's what I think the problem is. Here's what I think is going to fix it. Will you try that?", something important happens. You and the patient are now moving in the same direction. Some people think of this as "placebo effect," which it is not. I call it the "Rescue Effect." The Rescue Effect is important. It gets the whole process moving in the direction of success. It doesn't matter if you are struggling with depression, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, ADHD, or other brain chemistry problems. Until you feel like you have a direction that will lead to relief of your symptoms, you can feel "lost at sea." This video explains how the Rescue Effect plays out in my psychiatry office.
