Описание: Seroquel is the brand name for a medication generically called quetiapine. It is officially FDA approved for psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia. That sounds scary to a lot of people. It's really not scary. I think of it as a "sedating dopamine (DA) suppressor." In my model, it moves DA downward. If excess DA is causing you to think too much and not be able to shut your thoughts off, it might be a good tool. The fact that it is also a pretty strong anti-histamine makes it pretty sedating. So, off-label (used in agreement with the patient as a non-FDA approved, but potentially helpful treatment), it is frequently used as a medication to help with insomnia.
