The UAE, Egypt, and Jordan last week signed an industrial partnership agreement to enhance economic growth in the three countries across five key sectors - food, agriculture and fertilisers; pharmaceuticals; textiles; minerals and metals; and petrochemicals. A US$10bn investment fund has been allocated which will be managed by Abu Dhabi state holding firm ADQ Holding.
In Abu Dhabi, Jubail Island Investment Company (JIIC) has awarded a US$11m contract to Al Dhafra Pipeline & Contracting Company (APCC) for a new 66-berth Marina in the Marfa Al Jubail community. The community will consist of 41 townhouses and 18 apartments surrounded by mangroves. Marfa Al Jubail will be anchored by a luxury yacht club complex and boardwalk with restaurants and cafes.
State-run Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) and its plant subsidiary Korea Western Power as well as Samsung C&T signed a joint development agreement to build a hydrogen and ammonia plant in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD). The plant will produce 35,000 tons of green ammonia a year in the first stage and raise the capacity to 200,000 tons in the second stage.
Japanese engineering heavyweight JGC has confirmed the award of a key contract from Saudi Aramco for its Zuluf incremental facilities project. The company said, along with its subsidiary JGC Arabia, it has been awarded the EPC contract for the core onshore gas-oil separation platform and utility facilities including water injection facilities.
Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Maaden) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GlassPoint to develop the world's largest solar process heat plant at Maaden’s Alumina refinery. When complete, the solar steam facility will help Maaden achieve sustainability goals by reducing carbon emissions by over 600,000 tons annually.
Oman’s global integrated energy group OQ announced that it has signed an MoU with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) to establish a plastics industries park on a 1million sqm area within Suhar Industrial City. The plastics park will produce semi-finished and finished high value-added plastic products with OQ serving as the major provider of high-quality raw materials
