From the icy fjords and glaciers of Greenland, to the bustle of downtown Chicago, this episode covers all. Here are 7 more challenging airports in Greenland, Eastern Canada and North-Eastern USA.
Airports are as follows:
1. Narsarsuaq is an airport with a reputation. Despite having a 1800m long runway, the surrounding terrain and frequent fog and snow storms make for a challenging approach. Scenery is freeware and can be found at flightsim.gl. Aircraft is the payware 757-200 from Qualitywings.
2. Meigs Field had been the default airport in flight simulators until it was demolished in 2003. FSX is the first installment not to have it, but a freeware version can be found at https://library.avsim.net/search.php?.... Meigs is situated very close to downtown Chicago, making for challenging approaches. Aircraft is the Dassault Falcon 50 by Yannick Lavigne, Fred Banting and Rob Young.
3. Potts Field is allegedly the shortest runway in FSX, although there might be one or two shorter ones available. Landing here with any aircraft, even an ultralight, requires some serious skill, at least if you dont want to overrun the runway, which is only 46 metres long. Aircraft is the default Piper Cub and scenery is also default.
4. Sisimiut is another creation by the guys at flightsim.gl that shows off greenland's stunning scenery. Squished in between high peaks and the arctic ocean, Sisimiut is a challenge to land at in most seasons. Aircraft is Milton Shupe's DeHavilland dash-7.
5. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport has not one but three short runways. Like Meigs, it is close to tall buildings, except Toronto city airport is till open and has a couple of runways directed straight at tall buildings (If you want an extra challenge of course). Scenery is freeware by ORBX as part of their North American Airport Pack. Aircraft is the payware Qualitywings RJ85.
6. Ultralight Port is another small airport included by default in FSX. Again, most airplanes wont stop before overshooting the 99m long runway. Tall trees on each end of the runway add extra obstacles to fly over. Scenery is default, and the aircraft is the payware Quest Kodiak by Lionheart Creations
7. St Pierre has a runway long enough for most intents and purposes. At 1800m, it can handle up to an A320, although its harsh winter weather and sloping runway can make landings difficult id planned incorrectly. Aircraft is the freeware Project Airbus A320, scenery is also freeware by Marc-henri Guitteny, and can be found at https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php...
