Today I’ll show you how to make no-yeast, eggless, soft & fluffy whole wheat buns that are healthy & super easy to prepare! These buns are perfect for burgers, sandwiches, or as a side with soups and curries. And if you love pav bhaji, you definitely need to try these!
Ingredients (Makes 6 Buns):
2 cups whole wheat flour/ chapati flour
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
2 tbsp cane sugar (or sweetener of choice)
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil (or any oil of choice)
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tbsp milk (for brushing)
some flaxseeds (or any seeds for topping)
Instructions:
1️⃣ Prepare the Dough:
Preheat oven at 190°C (375°F). In a mixing bowl, add whole wheat flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
Add olive oil and plain yogurt, then mix using your hands until a smooth dough forms.
2️⃣ Shape the Buns:
Transfer the dough to a cutting board and roll it into a log.
Cut into 6 equal pieces and shape each into a smooth ball.
Place the buns in a greased baking dish, ensuring some space between them.
3️⃣ Brush & Bake:
Brush the tops with milk to give them a golden color and prevent cracking.
Sprinkle flaxseeds or any seeds of choice for added texture.
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
4️⃣ Cool & Serve:
Let the buns cool completely before slicing.
Enjoy them with soups, curries, as pav for pav bhaji, or simply toasted with butter & tea!
