Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail - Joshua Tree National Park

Описание: Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail, also known as Brooklyn Mine Road, is a moderate to difficult "there-and-back" trail in Joshua Tree National Park surrounding BLM land.

The trail starts in the National Park halfway along Old Dale Road.
There are seven abandoned mines along this trail with the Brooklyn Mines at the end of the trail. These mines are extremely dangerous and not barricaded in any way. There are exposed vertical shafts that drop over 300 ft. with no railing or guards. The mines can also cave in or be filled with poisonous gases. It is not recommended to enter them without a spelunking expert.

The trail itself gets harder the further you go. The first 2.1 miles is an easy crushed rock trail. After that, you travel through a wash with avoidable boulders spotted along the path. Once you pass the Gold Rose Mine or the Rose of Peru Mine, there is a small loop that goes to the Brooklyn Mines. This short loop is the hardest part of the trail with large unavoidable boulders, steep rock-shelves, and washed out roads along steep cliffs. While most 4x4s can make it to the Gold Rose Mine, only the most capable 4x4s should attempt the loop. Lockers and short wheel-bases are highly recommended. Longer vehicles risk serious body damage or getting stuck.

There is no running water, cell coverage, ranger patrols or services on this trail or along Old Dale Road, so be prepared. The nearest services are in 29 Palms or the Cottonwood Ranger Station in the Park.
