India and Pakistan have agreed to withdraw reinforcement troops deployed in the contested region of Kashmir during a short military confrontation between the two countries in early May. The troops will be fully withdrawn by the end of the month, according to a senior Pakistani security official. Meanwhile, a media tour organised by India’s military on May 19, 2025, showcased weapons on the Line of Control in Indian-administered Kashmir. India has also agreed to resume taking part in an iconic daily joint border ceremony, which was previously halted for a brief time following the start of the hostilities.
