Hong Kong marathon sets record high for number of non-local runners

About 74,000 runners participated in the 28th Hong Kong Marathon on January 18, 2026. The organiser said about a quarter of the runners came from outside Hong Kong, which was a record high for the annual race. About 20 per cent of the runners were non-locals in the previous year. Among the runners was Hong Kong film star Chow Yun-fat. The 70-year-old star completed the 10km race in two hours and 23 seconds.
