This is Episode 1 of a new safari vlog series with a touch of documentary storytelling. I’ll be exploring different regions of Kruger over the coming weeks — always from the road, always under canvas.

In this first episode, we enter the park through Malelane Gate, set up our tent at Berg-en-Dal Rest Camp, and head out for our first game drives. While the midday heat keeps most animals in the shade, we still find quiet moments: elephants crossing at sunrise, giraffes in the early light, and even a lion — with no other cars in sight.

From dry riverbeds to summer bird calls, Kruger feels alive in a different way this time of year. And as always, life around camp surprises us too — from tiny snakes in the bathroom to uninvited lunch guests.
