March Fast Day One | The Intimacy of Surrender | 3.1.26

This Command Your Morning was not about discipline alone. It was about drawing near. God made it clear from the beginning: this fast is about intimacy. Not optics. Not performance. Not proving. But nearness.

The theme of Day 1 was The Intimacy of Surrender. We were reminded that fasting is not about trying to get something from God. He has already blessed us. We fast to position ourselves to hear Him clearly, to move our hearts closer, and to allow Him to do what only He can do.

This month, our declaration is simple and weighty: Obedience is my evidence. Trust is my posture. Intimacy is my assignment.

During this session, we confronted the need to understand before obeying. God challenged us to surrender our timelines, our logic, our demand for explanations, and our need to figure everything out before we move. He called us back to relationship. Back to the place where obedience is an expression of love, not a reaction to pressure.

We addressed church hurt, spiritual manipulation, and the ways obedience has been weaponized in the past. This fast is not about earning anything from God. We are responding to what He has already given. Surrender is voluntary. It is a choice to lay down control and trust His character.

We were reminded that tension forms us. That blurred vision does not mean God is absent. That obedience in the middle is still obedience. And that nearness matters more than understanding.

This was a call to return. To draw closer. To quiet down. To fast from 6 AM to 6 PM with water only, and to pray, not perform. Because fasting without prayer is just a diet. We are not dieting. We are drawing near.

James 4:8 TPT | “Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting.”

Proverbs 3:5–6 AMP | “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth, removing obstacles that block your way.”

Ephesians 1:17 TPT | “I pray that the Father of glory, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would impart to you the riches of the Spirit of wisdom and the Spirit of revelation to know him through your deepening intimacy with him.”

WOW Notes For You To Apply:

1. Move your heart closer. Intimacy begins with intention.
2. Surrender the need to understand before you obey. Clarity often follows obedience.
3. Examine whether you have been fitting God into your day instead of giving Him your undivided attention.
4. Fast with prayer. Create a quiet space. Sit with the Word. Let it speak personally to you.
5. Replace performance with relationship. Obedience is an expression of love.
6. Capture resistance, fear, and hesitation. Lay them down intentionally.

Declare throughout the day: Obedience is my evidence. Trust is my posture. Intimacy is my assignment.

If you are walking through a season where things feel blurry, this is your reminder: God is not asking you to figure it out. He is asking you to draw near.

This fast is about returning to the heart of the Father.
