Maria Rabaino was paralyzed in a drinking and driving car crash at the L1 level. After having a taste of independence in college and losing it all in the blink of an eye she was determined to get her life back and did so by joining an all women’s wheelchair dance team now known as the Rollettes. Maria’s first year as a wheelchair user moved so fast that she never stopped to think about what she wanted to do after readjusting to her new life, causing her to fall in to a depression and gain weight. After realizing Maria was happiest when she was active, Maria started working out to improve her mental health. During the start of her fitness journey Maria realized how inaccessible fitness was. She struggled to find workouts that worked with her abilities and decided to share how she adapted workouts and grew passionate about making health and fitness accessible for every body. Through the support of her friends, family, and the Rollettes, Maria became a certified personal trainer and is currently working on specializing in Corrective Exercises and Exercise Therapy so she can continue to motivate even more people to live healthier and happier lives as she encourages them to make fitness work for their abilities and lifestyle. Maria Teaches weekly classes online focusing on seated cardio and adaptive leg workouts and continues to share tips on how to make fitness work for your abilities through her TikTok and Instagram @MariaRabaino
