Chief economist at Panmure Liberum, Simon French, has warned that energy price shocks caused by the conflict in Iran could push inflation higher and delay interest rate cuts.
French also cautioned that the government's improved fiscal headroom highlighted in the chancellor's spring forecast has already been wiped out by rising gilt yields.
