Iran has already effectively 'blocked' the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's oil and gas passes, according to Sky's security and defence analyst who says the geography of the region has made the passage too dangerous.
Sky's Michael Clarke says oil tankers are already stopped at the Strait of Hormuz because of the risk of attack from Iran.
