Loading lions Goliath and Coralie at Tonga Terre d'Accuei ahead of the drive to Paris for their cargo flight.
The lions endured a decade in a tiny circus cage, and are heading to acres of space at the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary, South Africa.
The lions were removed from Cirque Ideal following an investigation by Free Life Association and taken to Tonga Terre d'Accueil, a holding center for confiscated animals near Lyon.
The relocation began on May 19 in the evening, loading the lions and then driving overnight to Paris ready for a flight at 4.55pm on Tuesday May 20. Following a change of aircraft in Doha, the lions will arrive in Johannesburg at around midday on Wednesday May 21. We then drive to the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary. The lions will be under observation for a few days before going into their huge habitat at the weekend.
Once again, Qatar Airways stepped in to help the animals, donating the journey on their cargo aircraft for the lions.
