Broken Rail causes Chaos on WCML at Carlisle 22 Nov 25

Описание: I'd not expected anything unusual at Carlisle Station on Saturday 22nd November other than seeing an LSL charter passing through. How wrong I was. We started with the charter being an hour late, having left Dundee late en route for York via the Settle Carlisle Line. Then as the regular stream of intermodals started the announcements came over that there were delays and cancellations due to a broken rail. At first it sounded like one of those things occurring miles away and hours ago, but no. Local announcements clarified it was at Penrith so very local. Lets see how the day panned out and how the passenger and freight companies and Network Rail managed things.
