In this presentation, Professor Schuwirth explains the need to improve the efficiency of assessment processes given the increasing demands on clinicians to undertake educational activities. Professor Schuwirth discusses methods of reducing inefficiencies in assessment, including nesting of raters, collaboration with other assessor and institutions and reducing unnecessary rules and regulations. Professor Schuwirth also discusses reducing inefficiencies in exam item writing, the value of expensive assessment methods versus less expensive assessment methods and the value of trainee feedback.
