Nepal: Oct 22-30, 2022 trek to Mera Peak summit and back in 9 days via ZwatraLa Pass

Описание: Mark trekked from Lukla (Nepal) through the ZwatraLa Pass (4625m) to Mera Peak central summit (6461m) on October 22-30, 2022. The trek was a follow-up to an earlier fundraiser for HOPE worldwide's Asha Vidyashram School in Kathmandu. Mark reached the summit at 915am on October 29. This video shows little of the ascent on summit day due to darkness and frozen electronics; it does show most of the descent, which gives you an idea of the summit day path.

Background: Mark tried to summit Mera Peak in May 2022, he turned around at 6125m (336m away from the peak in vertical distance) due to altitude sickness and exhaustion. See    • Trek to Mera Peak via ZwatraLa Pass in Nep...  
Mark earlier recovered from Delta variant COVID in May 2021 after having pneumonia in both lungs.

Useful notes for trekkers: during this trek, Mark used diamox to counter the effects of altitude. He stayed at low camp (5220m) overnight on October 27 to acclimatize and reduce the trek to high camp the next day. And he drank lots of fluids while at high altitude. Mark wore six layers of clothes on his upper body and four on the lower half during summit day. He wore double gloves and triple socks, besides using Hothands feet and hand warmers, which really made a difference. Winds were moderate but not excessive on summit day.
