Andrew, Mike, and Mark trekked from Lukla (Nepal) to Island Peak on April 29-May 7, 2023. They returned by helicopter on May 7 to Kathmandu, just 9 days after starting. Mike reached the 6,189 meter summit. Andrew and Mark had stomach issues and finished 100 vertical meters and 157 vertical meters short, respectively.
Pekma Lama Bhote and Dawa Sherpa were the mountain guides and Pasang Gombu Sherpa was the porter. They were fantastic.

Note for climbers/trekkers: the Island Peak ice wall had more exposed rock this year than in previous years; it was tricky to find good footholds with cramponed boots on the rock sections.
