Heritage Line Shutdown (9th - 11th December 2022)

Описание: Over the weekend from the 9th to the 11th of December 2022, there was a major shutdown of Perth's rail network, in what I refer to as the "Heritage Line Shutdown." The Armadale, Thornlie, Midland and Airport Lines were closed, with the Fremantle Line running from Perth Underground Station as a B-series exclusive line with a reduced frequency between Perth and Claremont due to the lack of the Airport Line (with the exception of late in the evenings when the Airport Line did operate to ensure a fifteen minute frequency instead of a thirty minute one). Apparently, these trains then proceeded all the way to COCKBURN CENTRAL, not Elizabeth Quay like I said in the video (as there isn't enough leeway with the Mandurah Line trains to turnback there), and then came all the way back! That is a very long route just to turn back!

The shutdown of the multiple lines was actually for various different reasons, including the Armadale Line Level Crossing Removal Project, New Bayswater Station Project and just general maintenance. With so few lines running through the above ground Perth Station, Transperth took the opportunity to perform some maintenance works there too, hence the rerouting of the Fremantle Line.

As a result of all this, train-replacement bus routes 901, 902, 907 and 908 ran. I have already travelled on the eastern replacement bus routes so I focused my attention on the Armadale Line, taking the full journeys of the 220 and 907 buses to experience this replacement route. Afterwards, I saw TP1724, an NH bus, on the 902, and rode it to Airport Central. Onboard I met an enthusiastic driver, STW TranVids, and a Transperth bus route planner who explained to me many of the reasonings behind the changes for bus services with the Airport Line, it was a very interesting experience.
