In this video, I will take you through the steps to allow Amazon’s Alexa to control you Wyze WiFi Smart Plug.
I picked up a couple of these Smart Outlets on Amazon for about $20 US. I’m becoming a big fan of the Wyze products because of their quality, ease of use and the price point. This is my 4th video featuring Wyze, so make sure to check those out.

Today, we’ll be adding the Wyze skill to my Alexa app. This will include allowing Alexa to access the devices on my Wyze account. I have been using the Alexa and Wyze apps for quite some time and both are already installed on my phone.
I have a Wyze WiFi outlet plugged in and I’ll open the Wyze app.
In the Wyze app, I see the outlet, and I can turn the Night Light on and off.

The steps to add the WYZE skill to Alexa:
1. Open the Alexa app.
2. Touch the menu in the bottom right of the screen.
3. Let’s make sure, the skill isn’t already installed. Click on Skills & Games.
4. Click Your Skills and browse for the skill.
5. I don’t see it, so I will click on the magnifying glass to bring up the search box.
6. Type Wyze and search.
7. Select the Wyze skill to add.
8. Below the button which reads, “Enable to Use”, we have “Account linking required”. This means I give Alexa access to the devices on my Wyze account. So, I’ll click the button.
9. Enter my Wyze credentials and Login.
10. Click Accept to give Alexa access but as it says, she won’t know my credentials.
11. Good, it’s been successfully linked.
12. Click Done.
13. Click the button to discover devices. Wait… and No new devices found.
14. There is a message on the top of the page indicating there are 3 new devices. I’ll click on View.
15. I see the plug, Home Tech DIY. Let me click that.
16. Perfect, we are in, but let’s rename the device to Night Light.

When I control the switch through the Alexa app, there is a little lag, but not an issue. Let’s try out the voice.
