Who do you think you are?

A great way to start a conversation! but this Sunday I will be asking that very question, just who do you think you are! Not what job do you do or how many children you have, but to consider who we are!

How did you read the opening sentence of this piece? What tone was it in? What are the things that trigger you? What are your opinions and beliefs, how you act in a crisis and how you choose to relax. Can you walk away from a fight or are you always ready for a challenge, are you a servant hearted or a job creator!

Then, I wonder if I asked: ‘and who did you get that from?’ How many of us would admit it is the way we were bought up, we take after our mum, our Grandad our Uncle John and Auntie Mary!

Have you stopped to wonder how Jesus was bought up, did it shape him or is that a silly question! He was God after all, omnipotent, able to do everything. Yet He gave up all His power and chose to become powerless, a helpless child! Reliant on others! Why? And why this family?

As we explore the Genealogy in Luke 3 we will reflect on a number of very relevant and poignant issues that shape who we are today and how we engage with the world around us, just who we take after says more about us than sometimes we wish to admit!
