Isaiah is a prophet. But what is a prophet? What does a prophet do? What does a prophet see? This week we look through the eyes of Isaiah, not just at the brokenness of Jerusalem and Judah, but into the future. We get to see what happens in the end, what God has in store, the "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him", that Paul speaks of in 1 Corinthians 2.9. The short term diagnosis is terminal, the long term prognosis is beyond words. Through Isaiah's sight we confront both, in the Jewish people and in ourselves.
