Kenya - NCEC call for reform talks

An umbrella body representing Kenya's opposition parties, the National Convention Executive Council (NCEC), on Thursday (28/8) called for renewed mass action in order to push the Kenyan government into talks on constitutional reform before the upcoming elections.

SOT DR Richard Leakey, Kenyan politician, (in English): "I think a lot of people realise that Kenya is facing a very serious question...we could go the way of a number of African countries with civil wars ...or we could pull ourselves together and sort that out without war. There is a chance to do that, but we are running out of time, and I do hope that the international pressure can make them seat down and talk.";
