How I Accidentally Fixed My Split Jerk

I’m gonna say it now…
I really don’t like to split jerk.
Probably because I’m just not that good at it 😂
I mean, I can almost push press as much as I can split jerk.
And I know exactly why:
My overhead position sucks.
But did I ever actually work on it?
For a bit - but not really.
But then Sophie dragged me along to a weekly yoga session.
I mainly agreed because it forces me to slow down for once.
Then I noticed a welcome side effect: my overhead mobility started improving.
My chest opens up more, my shoulders feel less stiff, and I suddenly have a bit more range of motion up there.
It just so happened that we did clean & jerks the day after yoga - and they felt so much better.
Honestly, best my jerks have felt in a long time.
I’m not saying you need to do yoga to improve your mobility.
What really made the difference is that I worked on it consistently for the last six weeks.
Only problem now:
Clean and jerk day moved to Wednesday… which is the day before yoga.
So this week they felt “okay.”
Still better than before though 😂
