In Part 2 of our visit with Hawaiian Railway Society Historian Jeff Livingston, he continues exploring restoration projects at HRS, highlighting the tools and machines that keep the rails and right-of-way in top shape. The equipment is not only historic but still highly useful, including the Navy speeder for inspections and crew transport, as well as the tie inserter, tamper, and spray car that make track work safer and more efficient.
We’ll also take an in depth Locomotive #423, Coach 57, the 40 & 8 Merci Box Car, and the in-progress reproduction of the Pearl City Rail Car.
Jeff invites you to visit the Hawaiian Railway Society in Ewa Beach, not just for the popular train rides, but to explore the collection, see restorations in action, and perhaps even volunteer.
