Devil Kings - Devil King Stage 1 | Deadwood Counteroffensive

Описание: Now we play as the titular Devil King, otherwise known as Nobunaga Oda. He's sort of the main character, appearing on the cover of the game, title screen, having it named after him, etc. I decided to play on Normal since Easy was a bit too easy. Prepare to see me struggle in the later stages and never put this on Normal again.

Unlike Azure Dragon, Devil King has a few allies in the form of Hornet and Lady Butterfly. They can both appear as allies on the map, but they only stay in one place and don't actually do anything beyond fighting nearby enemies. So it hardly matters.

Devil King is fairly straightforward to use. Every character basically plays the same with T-strings priming the enemy and S-strings actually dealing damage. He gets some fun special attacks later on such as a bitch slap with his cape. His Fury is also just a flurry of cape slaps, which is both amusing and effective.

If you manage to unlock Devil King's higher tier weapons, you can get one with an elemental effect. His element is Shadow, which drains HP from you with each attack but drains HP from each enemy you hit. This is by far the WORST element in the game and effectively makes his elemental weapons useless. This is because LITERALLY any attack will drain HP from the user. And you DO NOT gain back HP from whiffs or blocked attacks. And considering the bosses love to block even on Easy, you can literally kill yourself by not being able to hit the enemy. Hell, you can't even break chests without taking damage. It's far too severe of a detriment to ever be worth using. And wouldn't you know it, future games remove the self-harm effect of Shadow elements. Because at some point the game designers realize that's absolutely absurd. Did no one fucking test this!?

Oh, and in case it wasn't clear, characters only have one element they can use. So if a character is stuck with a shit element, then there's nothing you can do about it.

Anyways, this stage is semi-unique. It's a battle against Red Minotaur's forces but it only plays if you play as Devil King's forces and a few others and attack him. This battle is basically meant to be Nagashino, where the Oda rekt the Takeda with riflemen. This is meant to be implemented in the stage's mission by stopping the calvary, but it can be difficult to catch up with them all. There's also an anime cutscene that plays when Red Minotaur's forces and Devil King's forces attack, so this stage kind of has a lot going on.
