In today’s world, it’s easy to get pulled into constant reactivity. Our attention and energy are continually drawn toward screens, news, conversations, emotions, and internal narratives that can leave us feeling scattered, tense, or off-center.
You might notice yourself spiraling into worry, getting caught in loops of thinking, doomscrolling, or absorbing the mood and urgency around you. Over time, this kind of reactivity can feel exhausting and disorienting.
The Buddhist teaching of the Lion’s Gaze points toward another way of relating. When a stick is thrown, a dog runs after the stick. A lion, however, looks directly at the one who threw it and remains steady and composed.
This gentle, insight-oriented meditation invites you to explore that same quality of steady awareness within yourself. Not by trying to force calm or suppress reactions, but by reconnecting with a deeper, more grounded presence that already knows how to stay with what’s here.
Through this practice, you’re invited to slow down, settle your nervous system, and begin noticing the small but meaningful space between impulse and response. That space — often called the choice point — is where clarity, agency, and a different kind of freedom become possible.
