JJ Travels: Chania, Crete

Описание: The island of Crete was my favorite place I’ve been in Europe! We spent a week here, and it still wasn’t enough time to do everything we wanted. Grace’s Nona is from Chania, so visiting there was extra special.
We had so many amazing meals in Chania (as you can see). I especially loved Old Chania for its stunning views, winding streets, and quiet nights.
We also went on an incredible wine tour with my new friend, Yanni. He was so kind and supportive of my efforts to speak Greek! We even ran into him again during our tour of an olive oil factory. I learned that 5% of all the olive oil in the world comes from Crete!
Yanni also took us to the Olive Tree of Vouves, the oldest olive tree in the world. Scientists estimate it's over 4,000 years old! When Athens hosted the Olympics in 2004, the victory wreaths were made using branches from this very tree.
On our way to the beach, we stopped at the Cave of St. John the Hermit, where a beautiful monastery was built into the very cave where he worshipped.
Falasarna Beach was the perfect place to swim and relax — we had absolutely perfect weather!
