Mantii is a unique Macedonian dish, and the flakey pastry, filled with savory meat goes so well with the garlicky yoghurt topping.
Although traditionally, the parcels are filled with a mince meat mixture, if you are a vegetarian you can substitute the meat for chopped and sautéed mushrooms.
This recipe is very budget friendly, but you will impress anyone you serve it to. I encourage you to try it soon!

THESE AMOUNTS WILL YIELD YOU 1 VERY LARGE PAN/CASSEROLE/BAKING TRAY
OR 2 MEDIUM SIZED PANS/CASSEROLES/BAKING TRAYS
YOU NEED:
FOR THE DOUGH:
800 gr. all purpose flour, or "00" flour
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsps. vegetable oil
1.5 - 2 cups of water {or more or less as needed).
FOR THE FILLING:
250 gr. minced beef
250 gr. minced pork
1 large onion finely diced
salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp. paprika
1 tsp Vegeta, or to taste {or a crushed low sodium vegetable bouillon cube)
1 cup {250 ml) water
FOR THE BUTTER MIXTURE:
100 gr butter or margarine, melted
100 gr vegetable oil
FOR THE TOPPING
Enough Kisela Mleko, or a thick Balkan style Yoghurt to cover your Mantii, depending on how thick you like the topping.
2-3 garlic cloves, or to taste, grated or crushed.
