1. oleaginous bases:
Example: soft paraffin (petrolatum)
Hard paraffin
Liquid paraffin
2. Absorption base:
Example: wool fat (Anhydrous lanolin)
Hydrous wool fat (Lanolin)
wool alcohol
Bees wax
3. Emulsion bases
Example: O/W Emulsion base
W/O Emulsion base
4. Water soluble base:
Example: Carbowaxes (Polyethylene glycol)
Tragacanth, Gelatin, Pectin, Cellulose derivative etc.
