This section of the Huizhou Skyroad is one of its most stunning and demanding parts. The road is carved along a mountain ridge, hugging vertical rock faces painted in shades from dark grey to brown with a reddish tint — likely due to iron-rich granite.

On the other side? Just open air and breathtaking views down into deep valleys and across distant mountain ranges.

🚫 Important: There is no access to the Tianlong Nature Reserve from this road — no hiking paths, no entrances. Apart from two viewing platforms, there are hardly any safe places to stop without blocking traffic.

🐾 Wildlife in the Tianlong Nature Reserve:

Tibetan macaques are widespread — and bold. At viewing platforms, they may approach cars begging for food. Keep windows closed and don’t leave your vehicle unattended.

Chinese pangolins are rare and strictly protected.

Venomous snakes are present, especially off-road in lower regions:

Sharp-nosed Viper (also called "Hundred-Step Snake") in rocky areas

Chinese Cobra and Banded Krait (known locally as the "Two-Step Snake") in grassy, lower zones

You’re unlikely to encounter snakes from the road itself unless venturing into the grass or bush.

⚠️ Safety Note:

This road is highly prone to rockfalls, especially during or after heavy rain, snow, or freezing weather. Only attempt the drive in good weather conditions.

We drove this route coming from Huangshan City — it took us nearly 8 hours to cover 250 km, with very few hotels or restaurants along the way.

For EV's, I didn't see any charger all day long , The way to drive there also may affect your range negatively .
