Here’s easy and simple Prawn Ghee Roast Recipe—a coastal delicacy known for its rich, spicy masala roasted in ghee
Ingredients
500 g Prawns (shelled & deveined)
1 big onion chopped
Ginger garlic paste
Green chilli 1
Fennel powder ½ tsp
Kashmiri red chilies powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder ¼ tsp
Cumin powder ½ tsp
Black pepper powder ¼ tsp
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
5-6 Garlic clove
1 tbsp Tamarind pulp
1/2 tspTurmeric powder
1 tbsp Lemon juice
2 tbsp Ghee
Few Curry leaves
¼ tsp Jaggery
Salt To taste
Method
1 Marinate prawns: Mix prawns with turmeric, lemon juice, and salt. Set aside for 15-30minutes.
2. Prepare masala paste- in bowl take the tamarind pulp add coriander powder, cumin powder, pepper powder, fennel powder, Jaggery and kashmiri red chili powder, mix well and keep it aside
3 Cook prawns-Heat ghee/oil in a pan. Fry marinated prawns lightly until they turn pink. Remove and keep aside.
4. Heat pan, add ghee and mustard seeds and let the mustard splutter add garlic, onion, Curry leaves and green chilli. Saute until onions are golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste, add the masala paste in the same pan, saute masala paste until oil separates and it darkens.
5 Combine & finish-Add the fried prawns and ¼ cup water. Mix well, roast for 5–7 minutes until prawns are coated and masala releases ghee.
6. Serve hot with neer dosa, chapati, or steamed rice.
