Fat Loss Stall Or Just Fatigue??
Fat loss stalls are actually rare to come from metabolic adapation.
Current evidence shows that 85-90% of metabolic "adaptation" is realy in reducing NEAT and changes in burning calories during exercise. (Rosenbaum, 2010)
In other words, peole just move less and make up for the deficit.
Actual resting metabolic rate can decrease only 3-5% across a diet, which is not much if your RMR was 2000 kcal, this is only ~100kcal. (Marins, 2020)
Many times a “stall” is though to be happening, but we need to think through all factors that might blur the assessment of a stall.
It very well might be fatigue masking fat loss with water retention. The other issue with fatigue is it adds to clients burning less calories from moving around less and being lazy.
How do you assess fatigue?
Mentally are having brain fog and lack of motivation
Sleep is very disruptive
Scale weight might be increasing
Visually we might see bluring of lines in the legs and reports of feeling heavy legs
Gym performance is on the decline
If this is standing out in your assessmtn pull the client back and drop fatigue.
You can see weight drop, they gain energy back and will propel them forward as know they will sleep better, have more energy to put into cardio, steps and training.
