He’s Not All Bad — And That’s the Problem

He’s not all bad.
He has a beautiful side.
And that’s exactly why it’s so hard.
In this video, I talk about the part no one speaks about openly — the beautiful moments in an abusive or coercively controlling relationship. The laughter. The tenderness. The times that felt real and important.
Those moments can make you stay.
They can make you fight harder.
They can make you question yourself.
But beautiful moments do not cancel out patterns of control, fear, or instability.
I also speak about something important: how a partner reacts when separation is mentioned can reveal whether they prioritize the children’s well-being — or their own need for control. If you are in a relationship where you are afraid of your partner, please do not initiate separation conversations without support. Separation can be the most dangerous time. Reach out to domestic violence hotlines, shelters, or local authorities for guidance and safety planning.
This video is not about regret.
It’s about grief.
Grieving what could have been — while still knowing you made the right decision.
If this resonates with you, you are not stupid for staying. You were holding onto something that felt beautiful. And that’s human.
