Located in the Ruigrijk area, the Python coaster has been twisting and turning through the skies of Efteling since 1981. Python is a high-speed thrill ride featuring two vertical loops, a double corkscrew, and a layout that has made it a favorite for generations of coaster fans. Climbing to a height of 29 metres and reaching speeds of 75 km/h, Python delivers over two minutes of classic coaster excitement with a total of four inversions and a top g-force of 3.5.

Python was the first major steel roller coaster on the European mainland, built by Vekoma to help Efteling expand beyond its fairytale roots into a full-scale amusement park.

With its looping layout, Python sparked a new era of thrill rides at the park. Although it faced legal challenges and noise concerns during its early years, Python continued to evolve. In 2018, the Python coaster track was completely rebuilt using modern engineering, keeping the original layout but delivering a much smoother ride experience. Today, Python remains a symbol of Efteling’s bold expansion into high-thrill territory.

Python is part of the Ruigrijk section of the park, an area known for its action-packed attractions. Other highlights in this section include the swinging ship Halve Maen, the dive coaster Baron 1898, the dual-track wooden coaster Joris en de Draak, and the boat ride De Vliegende Hollander. In 2026, Efteling will expand this area even further with the launch of a brand new free fall tower, fully themed to the story of Baron 1898.

Efteling Theme Park Resort, located in Kaatsheuvel, has been enchanting visitors since 1952. With story-driven rides like Droomvlucht, Symbolica, and Fata Morgana, and thrill rides like Python and Dance Macabre, which opened in 2024, Efteling offers something for everyone.

Guests can extend their stay at one of Efteling’s resorts, including the natural hideaway of Loonsche Land, or the tranquil village of Efteling Bosrijk. Guests can also look forward to the luxurious Grand Hotel Efteling opening soon, along with the newly refurbished Efteling Wonder Hotel. Overnight stays include early park entry, breakfast and easy souvenir delivery.
