In this talk, the speaker explores the future of education in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. Imagining a classroom in 2035 where AI handles lesson planning, assessment, and administrative tasks, the speaker challenges the fear that teachers will become obsolete. Instead, they argue that AI has the potential to make educators more essential than ever. By reducing workload, AI could create space for what technology cannot replicate: slow, meaningful, human-centered conversations. Drawing on observations from teaching and reflections on modern communication, the talk distinguishes dialogue from transactional question-and-answer exchanges. The speaker emphasizes the importance of conversations about values, belonging, community, and purpose—discussions that require time, trust, and presence rather than efficiency. Ultimately, the talk suggests that if guided intentionally, AI can help education shift away from constant productivity and consumption, allowing teachers and students to reconnect through deeper dialogue that forms the foundation for thoughtful decision-making in the future. Milan comes from Serbia, a country with a tumultuous past and not the best record in education. Looking back, the most prominent achievements he has had are gaining better self-understanding and finding his own calling as an educator which he is personally invested in
the future of teaching. Through reading books, walking, dancing and seeking moments of quiet, he wonders how the future will nourish our minds and bodies. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
