Four Laps of Ups, Downs and Mud in Bingley 🏃‍♂️🌳 | Myrtle Parkrun POV Experience

Описание: This week's parkrun story comes from Myrtle Park, in Bingley.

This is a full real-time (sped up) 5K POV of Myrtle parkrun so handy for a course preview, if you fancy virtual run or, at a push, running motivation.

Starting and finishing by the bandstand it's four laps around the park using a mixture of tarmac paths and a grass section. A lot of people described the route as undulating, but personally I found the uphill parts challenging especially on the later aps. Also, the grass section was slightly boggy too, but it's that time of the year to be fair - so you might want to consider trail shoes depending on the time of year. Despite some sections being quite tight there are plenty of other parts wide enough to overtake. The volunteers were excellent and they even have a board up that gives an overview of the conditions - I thought it was a nice touch. There's street parking nearby, but I parked at the Queen Street car park which was £1 for the hour - I believe there are toilets nearby too, but you need to pay.

Onto the race and I definitely struggled this week and managed a time of 26:46 - I don't even know if the hill parts were that difficult, but they did take their toll over the laps. BUT... I did manage to be 2nd in my age category, so every cloud.

A little about me. I have been running, or taking it seriously, for about 18 months now. The aim really was to aid with my mental health and I must admit I am loving it. Since turning 40 I have found myself doing more parkruns, more medal races and more walks so I decided to buy a GoPro, along with a Garmin watch, and record them and make them into a YouTube video(s). I don't plan to commentate on them, it's more to give folk an idea of what the course is like beforehand. Hopefully, these videos will also give you some parkrun ideas.
